I keep telling myself I'll stop repurchasing lip products because my vanity dresser is basically bursting with lip colors. But the truth is, I won't use something unless I really love it, no matter how expensive it is! The longer you use makeup, the more refined your makeup standards become (at least, I'm hoping), and I just can't get myself to use up those subpar lipsticks I've purchased in the past. For that reason, my search for the perfect lip products is ongoing, and equal parts frustrating and satisfying.
Yesterday's search at the department store was for a peachy pink or coral that wouldn't make my lips look scary. The candidate: Chanel Rouge Coco in 78 Peregrina ($34, Macy's).
From the Chanel website:
"A modern interpretation of classic creme lip colour as an homage to the rich life and legacy of 'Coco' Chanel. Lightweight lip colour glides on for easy application, and features a Hydratendre complex to help soften, soothe and condition lips--even boosting their ability to hold in moisture--for a plumper, smoother and healthier-looking appearance. A range of wearable shades with full-coverage finishes, from matte to pearl to soft shimmer."
Peregrina comes in a sturdy plastic container with classic Chanel black and gold packaging.
Peregrina had good pigmentation, and swatches as a soft coral pink. On my lightly pigmented lips and against my NW23 complexion, the shade looks like a milky coral. I think this lip color would pair very well with NARS blush in Orgasm because of the amount of red both products have. In addition, since the color is soft and doesn't look too warm, I think it would suit many skin tones.

Formula and Wear
I found the formula to be very hydrating and comfortable to wear. My lips felt slightly softer when I removed the lipstick. After about four hours, through eating and drinking, the color had noticeably faded from my lips.
This is one of those lipsticks that will go into my lipstick rotation this spring. It's a nice pop of color without being too in-your-face. If you don't mind reapplying a few times a day, this lip color might be worth the splurge.
